Here iv used a image found on Google of a Nike football boot and have turned it into a dark engaging nighttime based design. I really wanted to express my passion for football through this image and this is the end result. Click above or visit my portfolio for a larger image.
A 70’s inspired surreal design that includes dice and Rubik’s cubes. I wanted to create a interesting stylish arrangement of shape and this is the finished result. Click above all visit my portfolio to see the full image.
[ NOTE - This Tutorial Is Not For beginners - Please Feel Free To Prove Me Wrong ]
Create a surreal-feeling composition by combining imagery inspired by the 1940s with an Egyptian landscape – in fact, a scene that’s straight out of Indiana Jones. To do this, you’ll use overlay effects, filters and exposure to create a hot, starched feel, and will place shapes to produce abstract designs.
In addition, you’ll learn how to use brushes to replicate clouds, dust and grime, how to add foreground blur to objects to give the impression of depth, and will also see how the Warp tool can manipulate shapes.
Our tutorial will show you how to enhance detail with curves, and how to match different tones with hue and saturation. You’ll also be working with the Pen tool to mask and edit stock images and learn a great trick to mask hair.
All these techniques are invaluable and can be used to create a huge range of effects. Most of the images and brushes used in this tutorial can be downloaded free from stock.xchng and gbrushes.com.
Here’s my latest design, Iv used Z-Brush 2 as well as Photoshop and Illustrator to create this image. I wanted to arrange something relatively symmetrical that also included some sort 3D element. Most of the line work was done in illustrator. Click on the image or visit my portfolio to view.
The Mask Tutorial is out now in digital arts magazine! If you you haven’t already go buy this awesome magazine and create your own composition not unlike my own! Il post the tutorial up on my blog at the end of the month for all to follow. If anyone has any questions or issues just drop me a email and I’ll talk you through it personally. Id also love to see how other peoples designs have come out and see if anyone has added new elements and ideas.
My feature in the internationally renowned Advanced Photoshop Magazine is out today. I’m extremely honored and very excited to have received the award “Best In Show!” Check out my double page spread in this awesome mag now!

Here’s a design that I’ve been working on that’s slightly more suggestive regarding the model used. I wanted to make the design sexy but also wanted the design to enhance how the model came across on the page. I wanted the graphic design element to shine through as well as the photo which is slightly more of a challenge when there’s this much skin on show. Check out Digital Art’s magazine next month for a Photoshop tutorial written by me, based on one of my favorite designs to date!

Here I’ve been playing with abstract shape and composition, it’s the 1st time I’ve really created anything like this and I’ve really enjoyed the experience! It’s a much quicker, more fluid process. It’s very gratifying arranging shape and colour quickly especially when the end results are good! Click on the image or visit my portfolio to see an enlarged version of the image.
A 1940’s surreal composition, I’ve tried to make this feel starched and hot by keeping the colour and exposure quite high. I’ve also added some butterfly wire in the foreground to add some depth. Click on the image or visit my portfolio to enlarge!
Here’s my latest website design, it’s a mad mix of shapes and colors, I’ve stayed with the current theme. I love how this has turned out. To view the layout click on the image of visit my portfolio.
If you’ve got a spare second check out my new look portfolio. Just click Portfolio in the menu or click the image above!
Here’s something I whipped up in Photoshop, inDesign and Illustrator. It’s based on one of the monthly magazines I get. I even replicated the bar code and publishers logo at the bottom. Click on the image to enlarge of visit my new portfolio.
I’ve been ever so busy with work and out of hours socially recently, as a result this image has taken quite awhile but I’m ever so pleased with the result, it’s quite an unusual mix of shapes and composition but I feel it works! I’ve also been playing around with a few techniques like depth of field. Hope you enjoy. Click on the image to enlarge.
Just thought I’d make a quick post, I’m very pleased to have won The Castle Galleries art competition. The competition was open to members of the public and the concept was “to look through a window.” I entered my space scape which can been seen a few posts below!
Here’s my latest image. The model was originally holding a camera but thought I’d change the whole feel of photo buy replacing the camera with a gun. I’ve also added some famous fire arms quotes. Click on the image to enlarge.
I wanted to create something with an almost fluorescent feel to it and this is the end result. I’ve used an array of brushes to illustrate flowing moment. Click on the image to enlarge.
I’d just like to apologise for any spelling mistakes you may find below, spelling isn’t a strong point of mine. Here’s my latest picture! Bit of a mad one, but I love the use and depth of colour. Love to know what you all think. This image is huge and you really cant see all the detail in the web 72dpi version but you get the idea! Click on the image to enlarge.
Again here’s another piece without to much detail in the background. This took about 40min to design. I used a number of layer effects on top to achieve the look. Click to enlarge.
Here’s something a little different, there’s some many styles to cover in graphic design so I’m trying to go through all of them. This quite minimalistic and visually very simple, but with an image like this it’s knowing when to stop as it’s so easy just to keep going adding more detail, sometimes less is more. Click on the image to expand. Here’s the image cut up slightly, click here
Here’s something I’ve been working on over the last couple of days. Still needs a bit of work but it’s getting there, the original is on A3. Click on the image to enlarge.
Here’s my latest piece, I wanted to try and create a grungy image but without a background. I kept this simple I didn’t want to over do it, which is so easy to do in photoshop. Click on the image to expand.
Here’s a landscape image I’ve just finished, this has been entered into a graphic design comp the theme of which is “to look through a window.” I’ll let you know how I get on. Click on the image to enlarge.
Here’s my iPhone mock application logo and website layout design. I’ve kept it nice and simple and clean. Click on the photo to enlarge.
Here’s something I knocked up yesterday, I’ve tried to give it a bit of a computer game look, the original file is huge and sadly you can’t see all the detail on this – the website version. Click on the image to enlarge.
The new prodigy album was out to day and I’ve gotta say, its a grower! The 1st time I had a listen through the album I wasn’t sure about it but, it’s one of those CD’s that’s grows on you. It sounds a lot like their earlier stuff but obviously produced to a much higher level. In my eyes, definitely a must have. Check out itunes for a good download price!
This is a canvas I’ve recently painted, it’s an exact copy of the Primal Scream – Screamadelica Album Cover, The piece is done with acrylic paint and is 50 by 40 inches. I’ve always wanted to paint this as it’s a great image, I love the sharp contrast and vibrant colors, it looks great on our wall. Click Here on the image to view the whole piece.
Id Just like to add this is an original and it is for sale for the right price.

Right I’m going to try and explain briefly why I think a mac is the graphic designer’s computer of choice, I’ve always been an avid PC user and I’ve always avoided macs but i’m now a complete convert.
This is more my personal perspective than fact but here goes.
They’re pretty – you may think this reason is typical of a graphic designer but there’s slightly more to it than that, here’s my analogy. I work from home and I find it impossible to design in a messy environment, for example if my desk is messy or if our open plan apartment is generally untidy, this same logic applies to my computer. So many computers I’ve used in the past have lacked in style or have had a messy, cheap feel to them. It becomes harder to design if the environment your designing within is unattractive.
This leads me to my next point, price – they’re not cheap, you’re paying for the name and the unique style, but again this makes you aware you own more than just a cheap £250 pc which in turn helps you psychologically when it comes to your creative environment.
User-friendly – The main reason I love my mac is it’s usability. Of course PC’s can do everything a mac can do technically, but not as easily or reliably as a mac, everything just falls in to place with an apple which leaves you to get on and do your job. PC’s are much more technical and in turn are harder to live with not to mention harder to keep protected.
Macs are ideal for designers because there pretty, expensive and simple, its not just a computer sitting on a desk its a peace of art in its own right. It may be expensive but what decent art is cheap? And when is good art ever simple?
I’ve managed to get some pre-tour tickets to see The Doves in Coventry, should be good fun. I’ve never been able to catch them till now. They’ve got a new album out in April which i am very much looking froward to, just a shame i can’t get a copy before i see them live. For all of you who couldn’t get tickets never fear, there’s a nationwide tour on the way.
There’s a free track on there new site that’s available to download and there’s also a single now out on itunes.
